Grading and Team Formation

The grading process at Pittwater RSL FC starts with the age groups U10 through to U18 Mixed and Girls Teams. There is no grading for the age groups U6-U8 and a “soft grading” for age group U9.

U6-U8 team formations

For younger players, Pittwater RSL FC recognises the social aspect of being a member and player for a community club and therefore understands the importance of playing together with friends and school students. When registering please add as much information as possible to the online form such as school name, specific team name, close friend(s) so the age coordinator can form the teams accordingly.

Pittwater RSL FC in line with MWFA recommends 9 to 13 players for the U6 and U7 teams and 8 to 11 players for the U8 teams. That way it ensures that all players get sufficient game time.

U9 teams

The U9 Teams for 2018 will not participate in the grading days. However, they will be “soft graded”, utilising the resource of the 2017 Player Assessment Form, kindly completed by the U8 coaches of 2017. These Player Assessment Forms introduced in season 2015 will assist the U9 Age Coordinator with the formation of the teams and potentially allow them to assemble players of similar skill levels, whilst not losing sight of the ethos of U9 football – “To have fun with friends and learn the world game of Football”. Effectively it means that the age coordinator may email the managers and coaches recommendations of moving players.

Pittwater RSL FC recommends a squad size of 8 to 11 players per team. That way it ensures that all players get sufficient game time.

U10-U11 teams

The Grading process used by PRSL FC in  2018 is closely aligned with the FFA National Football Curriculum  and utilises Skill and Small Game session plans consistent with the age groups being graded across two days. All grading will be conducted by FFA Accredited Coaches, where possible. The selections from the grading will rest with the Age Managers. The final decision will be that of the Coaching Director.

All players wanting to participate in an U10 or U11 team have to grade. Please ensure the players are registered before attending the grading days.

Pittwater RSL FC in line with MWFA recommends 10 to 13 players in a team.

If you are unable to make 1 grading day, that’s OK. Just make sure that you advise the club ( because all players need to attend at least one of the days to qualify.

All Players attending the Grading days should be free of injury and must bring:

  • Players strip
  • Shin Pads
  • Football boots
  • Drink bottle and Sun screen
  • Football (where possible)
